The Cambridgeshire
Love races like the Cambridgeshire.
Big fields are an opportunity to find some big value, plenty of runners in a straightline race, it’s most likely that it’ll be a true reflection of a horses ability at the weights under the prevailing conditions.
Over the years, it’s been a good race to me. Pedrillo aside, £2k win, the wrong train out of London, ending up in the middle of nowhere and a £120 taxi ride to the course. They were off by the time we were in a viewing spot in front of the stands.
In better years…
Memories of Rambo’s Hall, Risen Moon, Mellottie and ‘that gamble’ on Pasternak. Risen Moon had pumped a huge timefigure in his previous race, that was a good day. And, more recently, Third Time Lucky, Majestic Dawn, Bedouin’s Story and last year, the majestic Majestic flying up the stands side late on under claimer Aiden Keeley.
This years running, 3 against the field at big prices (always happy to back more than one in a race if they are value).
Zozimus. I want to have a s much on Zozimus as possible, without making it an uncomfortable amount if he doesn’t come home in front. Need to maximise the opportunity today. Think he has a much better chance than his current 50’s on Betfair.
Eilean Dubh. Again, wildly over-priced. 130 at the moment.
Arqoob. Similar to the above. Simply has to be backed at 60’s.The wrong price imo.
